Jason’s Dream – Take in a Red Sox Game

Jason T. has had a special dream for a very long time – to go to a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park. Jason shared this dream with his mother and CWS team members at Saco Community Services. At his annual meeting, we all agreed that Jason’s dream would be an excellent candidate for CWS’ Dreams from the Hardt Fund. This fund provides money for participants’ hopes and dreams that might not otherwise be fulfilled.
Jim Bolton, the SCS Team Leader, submitted the application with Jason to the Dreams of the Hardt committee and that got the “baseball rolling.” Soon after, Jason met with committee members and talked about going to Fenway and being supported there by an SCS team member. Jason’s chose Jedd Brown, his Life Skills Coach, to go with him.

Jedd was as excited as Jason to go to Fenway and see the Red Sox. Jedd helped with the planning of the trip and contacted the friendly folks at the Downeaster about getting to the game and back from Saco. Jason had never been on a train before or ridden a subway, so this too was an exciting part of going to see the Sox for Jason.

Thanks to the support from CWS’ Dreams of the Hardt fund, the game was a perfect experience for both men. To make it even better, the Red Sox had to win and David Ortiz would have to hit a grand slam home run! And guess what? The Sox won and David hit his grand slam into the right field seats! Jason and Jedd were ecstatic! And with the great box seats donated by Data Associates, the refreshments were free, and there was a huge plasma screen TV (if you needed to see a replay) and a private rest room! Can you believe it? Jason bought an official Red Sox cap for his souvenir and that made the evening complete.

What a great dream fulfilled for Jason! Thanks go to Jedd Brown and CWS’ Dreams of the Hardt fund.
