Pruning Class

Details: Learn to prune apple trees with Renae Moran, University of Maine tree fruit expert. This event will include a discussion on pruning principles, a pruning demonstration and a chance to practice pruning. There is no charge for the class, but please bring your own pruning tools. Details: Come shop at the Hollis Elementary School where you'll find an entire cafeteria filled with clothing - racks of jackets, shoes, shirts, pants, etc. There's even new underwear and socks which have been donated. All items are priced at 25 cents no matter what!! Most of the clothing is used like you'd find at a yard sale, but each year more and more of it is new that is donated from places such as Walmart and LL Bean.

Area Artists 2009 Exhibit

Details: Works of over 90 artists from Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford counties in the biennial exhibition Area Artists 2009.
Included are paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, and works in clay, metal, and fiber. The exhibition features work in a variety of styles from representational to abstract, with landscapes, figure studies and portraits, still life’s, and sculptural work. This exhibit will be on display until March 20th.

Current Exhibit: Stories of the Somali Diaspora: Photographs by Abdi Roble: A Somali-born photographer, Roble has documented the diaspora of the Somali population for five years. These 55 black-and-white images depict the transition of Somali communities from Africa to the United States, from refugee status to integration in American society. Included are photographs made in Minnesota, Ohio and Maine — locations of three of the larger Somali communities in the U.S.
